The rules don’t accept a replaced background: switch off Plain background on the card to keep your own.
1
Read the rules for your application channel first. Paper applications use printed photos; online applications need an unaltered digital original that you must not crop yourself.
2
Drop a photo to open the country's printed-photo preset. You can zoom, move and rotate the preview. The card offers every edit; check the official rules before deciding what to save.

The editor saves one JPEG in your browser. It does not provide physical prints, photographer certification or an acceptance guarantee. Keep your original file and follow the application channel's official instructions.
A printed UK passport photo measures 35 × 45 mm. The head, from chin to crown, must be between 29 and 34 mm high. Provide two identical photos taken within the last month. The government requires an unaltered photo and says it must not be a cut-down version of a larger picture.
For an online application, a digital photo must be at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall, between 50 KB and 10 MB, and unaltered by computer software. Include your head, shoulders and upper body. Do not crop it yourself: the application handles cropping. The printed-photo preset here does not replace that process.
The editor can frame a photo and change its background, but those controls do not establish permission to edit an official submission. A plain light-coloured background and even lighting should be present when the original is taken. Check the official rules linked below before applying; use the appropriate original for your application.
