Where no head height is given, the card sizes the head to the international standard: 70–80% of the photo’s height.

The card opens on the Indian passport size, 3.5 × 4.5 cm on white. Choose Visa or ID card for the 2 × 2 inch photo.

Tap Save photo. Print the passport photo on photo paper, or upload the visa or OCI photo, which is kept within the form's KB limit.
At a Passport Seva Kendra or a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra, the photo is taken at the counter, so you don't bring one. A printed 4.5 × 3.5 cm colour photo on a plain white background is needed at some other counters and for children under four. The rules ask for a real photo, not a computer printout, so have it printed on photo paper.
The regular visa form takes a square JPEG of 10 to 300 KB, and the OCI card a square JPEG of up to 200 KB on a light background that isn't white. Both say the photo must not be retouched, so switch off Plain background and keep your own wall. The card saves both at 600 × 600 pixels and fits the file size for you, in your browser.
We can't promise any office will accept a photo; the official rules are linked below so you can check them first.
