Cut a person out for a profile picture, a document or a design. Drop the photo below, pick a transparent or plain background, and it all happens right on your device.

The assistant opens with your files and does the rest.
Choose Files
1
Drag a JPG, PNG or WebP portrait onto the box above, or click Choose Files. Selfies, headshots and full-length photos all work.
2
An editor opens with your photo. Choose Transparent, white, light gray or light blue, or ask for any other color, and the preview updates as you go. You can zoom, move or turn the photo too.
3
Tap Save photo. A transparent background is saved as a PNG and a colored one as a JPEG, and the original photo stays as it was.
The cut-out is made by a model trained to recognize people, so it does its best work on portraits, selfies and photos of someone you want to put on a slide, a badge or a website. It is made for people only: products, pets and other objects are not picked out as the subject.
Nothing about the person is redrawn or retouched. The pixels that make up the person are copied as they are, and the picture keeps its framing unless you zoom or move it. The result is up to 2,048 pixels on its longest side, so a larger photo is scaled down to that size, and hidden details such as the location are left out.
For the cleanest edge, start from a sharp photo where the person stands out clearly from what is behind them: wisps of hair against a busy background are where any cut-out struggles. The work happens in your browser, so the photo is not uploaded, and the first photo takes a little longer while the model loads. For an official passport or visa photo, use the passport photo maker, which also sizes the head to the rules.
