Choose Files
1
Use a sharp, evenly lit photo of one person looking straight into the lens, with room around the head. Drag it onto the box above, or take one with your phone's camera and choose it.
2
A passport photo editor opens with your picture. Pick the country and the passport, visa or ID card: the head is sized and placed to that office's rules and the background set to its color. Move the head, resize it or change the background if you need to.
3
Tap Save photo. You get a JPEG at the document's exact size, ready to print or to upload to an online application, and your original photo is not changed.
Every country has its own photo rules: the print size, how tall the head must be, where the eyes sit and the color behind you. The editor holds 116 sets of rules for passports, visas and ID cards, covering 57 countries and territories plus the Schengen visa, each taken from the office's own published requirements. If the rules name no print size, the editor uses the international standard of 35 × 45 mm.
The photo is saved as a JPEG sized for the document: in millimeters at print resolution for photo paper, or in the exact pixels an online form asks for. For the 34 documents that set a file-size limit, the JPEG is fitted under it wherever possible.
Before you save, the editor warns about a tilted or turned head, a head that is too large or too small, a cut-off crown or a resolution that is too low. A photo with no face, or with more than one, cannot be used. Some offices take the photo themselves or accept only unedited photos; the editor tells you when that applies, and the decision about acceptance is always the office's.
