How to Convert OGG to WAV Online

1

1

Drop your OGG file

Drag and drop your .ogg file onto the box above, or click Choose Files. The request is already filled in: “Convert this to WAV”.

2

2

Say how, if you want

The AI assistant uses sensible defaults. To choose the sample rate yourself, say so in the request, for example “Convert this to WAV at 48 kHz”.

3

3

Save your WAV file

The assistant opens with your file and converts it on your own device; the file itself is never uploaded. When the WAV file is ready, click Save. Prefer to set everything by hand, or batch-convert several files into a ZIP? The classic converter is one click away on this page.

Why Convert OGG to WAV?

OGG is everywhere in games, Linux software, Wikimedia Commons and web apps, but Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, many hardware samplers and CD-burning tools do not accept it. Converting OGG to WAV decodes the Vorbis or Opus stream into uncompressed PCM, the one format all of them understand.

Game modders and sound designers use this to pull music and effects out of OGG assets for editing. Opus sources always decode at 48 kHz, while Vorbis keeps its original sample rate unless you pick another in the settings.

  • Private by design: your OGG file is converted on your own device and never uploaded.
  • WAV already asked for: the AI assistant's request says WAV, so one drop does it. Want a particular sample rate? Just say so.
  • Batch friendly: the classic converter on this page takes several OGG files in one go and downloads them as a ZIP.
  • Free, no watermark: no sign-up, and nothing stamped on the output.

OGG vs WAV

OGG (Ogg Vorbis / Opus): OGG is the open Xiph.org container, usually carrying Vorbis or Opus audio. It is patent-free and common in games, open-source software and web audio. It is best for games, web audio and open-source tools.

WAV (Waveform Audio File Format): WAV stores uncompressed PCM audio exactly as it was recorded. It is the standard for audio editing, mastering and archiving, at the cost of large files (about 10 MB per minute of CD-quality stereo). It is best for editing, mastering, DAWs and archiving.

In short: keep OGG when the priority is games, web audio and open-source tools, and switch to WAV when the file is headed for editing, mastering, DAWs and archiving. Need a different target? The full Audio Converter supports every format listed below.

OGG to WAV FAQ

01

Why is the WAV so much bigger than the OGG?

A 160 kbps Vorbis file uses about 1.2 MB per minute, while 44.1 kHz 16-bit stereo WAV needs about 10 MB per minute because nothing is compressed.

02

Is the WAV 24-bit?

No. The converter writes 16-bit PCM, which already exceeds the resolution a lossy Vorbis or Opus file can deliver.

03

Is this OGG to WAV converter free?

Yes. Converting OGG to WAV on MediaConverter.io is free, with no watermark and no sign-up. The AI assistant runs on a free daily allowance of assistant credits; the classic converter on this page has no daily limit at all.

04

Are my OGG files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, so your .ogg file is read and converted on your own device and never uploaded, which keeps private recordings private and means there is no waiting in an upload queue. The AI assistant only sees what you type and basic facts about the file: its name, format, duration and size.

05

Is there a file size limit for OGG to WAV?

There is no plan or account limit, but the converter loads the whole OGG file into your browser's memory, so about 2 GB per file is the practical ceiling; larger files may fail to open. Long or high-resolution files also take longer, especially on phones.

06

Can I choose the WAV settings myself?

Yes. Ask the AI assistant for a sample rate in your request. Audio track selection and every other setting are in the classic converter, one click away on this page.

07

Will converting OGG to WAV reduce quality?

WAV is uncompressed, so no further compression loss is added to the audio decoded from your OGG file. The converter writes 16-bit WAV, CD resolution, so a 24-bit source is reduced to 16-bit.

08

Which browsers support the OGG to WAV converter?

It is built and tested on current desktop Chrome and Edge. The conversion itself runs in WebAssembly, which every current desktop browser supports, so speed depends mostly on your computer's processor.
