1
Drag and drop your .mov file onto the page or click to browse. You can select several MOV files at once to batch-convert them.
2
The output format is already set to AVI, so you can convert immediately. If you need to, adjust the codec, resolution, frame rate or bitrate in the settings panel first.
3
Click Convert. The AVI file is processed on your own device; nothing is uploaded to a server. When it finishes, click Download to save it (or Download all to get a batch as a ZIP).
Some Windows applications, DVD players and industrial or medical equipment still expect AVI. Converting MOV to AVI packages your QuickTime footage with H.264 video and MP3 or AC3 audio in the container those systems understand.
The conversion runs in your browser and keeps the original resolution and frame rate unless you change them. AVI files are slightly larger than MOV for the same content.
MOV (QuickTime File Format): MOV is Apple's QuickTime container. iPhones, iPads and Final Cut Pro record and export MOV natively, and it can hold high-quality H.264, HEVC or ProRes streams. It is best for Apple devices, iMovie and Final Cut Pro workflows.
AVI (Audio Video Interleave): AVI (Audio Video Interleave) is Microsoft's classic container from the early Windows era. It is still recognised by almost every Windows program and older media player, though its files tend to be large. It is best for legacy Windows software and older hardware players.
In short: keep MOV when the priority is Apple devices, iMovie and Final Cut Pro workflows, and switch to AVI when the file is headed for legacy Windows software and older hardware players. Need a different target? The full Video Converter supports every format listed below.
